New Zealand Casino Happy With Security Despite Abduction

Sky City casino in New Zealand says it's confident about the security of its casino carpark, despite the unfortunate incident of the kidnapping of a student in the premises.

A Chinese student was abducted in the carpark recently at 9:30 a.m. in broad daylight, and was subjected to a two-hour ordeal.

The student was said to have been forced into his own vehicle, driven around Auckland, then was forced to withdraw $700 from an ATM machine and then was left in Mount Roskill. The student then went to the Mount Albert Pak'n Save to let police authorities know what had happened.

A man has been arrested on Saturday in connection with the kidnapping.

The Sky City Casino incident has put in doubt the security of casino carparks, where many believe criminals might be lurking with the intent of robbing casino winners. Meanwhile, Sky City Casino has released a statement saying that business was happy with security and that they believed that police authorities would let them know if there were concerns.

"We have around 12,500 people through our premises on any given day. The safety and security of our staff and customers is a priority and underpins all our operations," Sky City Casino management said.

"We are confident that any concern they (police) might have for our business or customers would be communicated to us immediately, and we would act immediately to work with them to address any risk."
