Las Vegas firm Eighth Wonder promised to play powerful ace cards to compete with 2 other bidders for a second casino complex license in Singapore, which will be built on Sentosa Island.
Eighth Wonder, a privately-held firm, has already delivered a model of its bid for the billion-dollar project to the Singapore Tourism Board.
On October 8, 2006, Eighth Wonder Chairman, Mark Advent, happily told reporters, "We are finally coming down to what I call 'D-Day'. Absolutely, we have lots of ace cards."
Advent proudly stated that his firm's bid is designed to obtain world recognition for Singapore.
Eighth Wonder's model, Advent said, "will really be innovative."
"We are very proud and pleased to be presenting our model ... to the Singapore Tourism Board and the government," Advent said.
Meanwhile, Genting International-Star Cruises of the Genting Group has also submitted their own model for their bid. In an official statement, Genting International's chairman, Lim Kok Thay, said his firm is "very committed" to the Sentosa project.
"We are a financially strong company and will have the necessary resources to develop a world-class family holiday destination at Sentosa if we are given the opportunity," Lim said earlier.
The third bidder, which is the partnership of Kerzner International and CapitaLand, has also delivered their model.
Contenders for the winning bid are expected to formally present their models prior to the closure of bids at 4:00 pm (0800 GMT).
The winning bid will be announced by the end of the year.
