Two Casino Ships in Trouble for Two Different Reasons

As of August 14th, 2007, there are a lot of problems that are currently plaguing two well-know casino cruise ships located in Port Canaveral including a violation of more than a dozen public safety rules.

The coast guard commented that Sun Cruz's Surfside Princess casino would not be allowed to accept customers until it fixes the problem. Some of Surfside Princess' problems include a 20 to 50 gallon leak in the ship's engine cooling system, a leak in the fire main that poured water on the electrical panel and a damaged fire pump.

Coast Guard Walter Hope said that the main cooling system was the biggest problem of the Surfside Princess was the main cooling system of the ship's engine. The 14-inch pipe from the outside had been damaged and needed to be immediately fixed before operation. If it is not fixed, flooding can happen and the engine can also overheat in the long run. Sun Cruz has no comment on the changes being implemented by the Coast Guard.

Aside from that, a Sterling Casino ship has not come back to port after being told by the Coast Guard to set sail. The Coast Guard has ordered the Sterling's Ambassador II to leave all the U.S. coastlines and ports.

The Coast Guard commented that the Sterling Casino ship does not have the documents needed to show that they can take responsibility in case of an accident or water pollution.

Sterling has recently overhauled their management and the coast guard said that it did not fix all of their documents.
