On February 8, 2007, the International Club Games Training Center of Singapore announced that after 6 months of training, the first 38 graduates of the Certificate in Casino Dealing are ready to take their place as dealers.
The training center, located in a 20,000 sq ft space, is designed in a real casino layout and offers a 6 month training program for aspiring roulette dealers and casino croupiers that would like to work in casinos.
The training center is complete with roulette wheels, baccarat and blackjack tables.
Gambling in Singapore was legalized in 2005, but the completion of 2 casino resorts is not expected until 2009-2010.
The new casino gambling rule got the interest of the Singaporeans, as it will increase job opportunities and boost tourism.
According to Ramachandar Siva, CEO of the Training Center, Singaporeans are well-suited, both educationally and regionally, for success in the booming casino industry.
Siva further stressed that Singaporeans are well-educated people and it is the aim of their training center to provide professional dealers to their casino clients.
The training center first opened in November of 2005, just after Singapore had legalized gambling. Aside from the projected casinos, the training center was built to fill the demand for dealers on cruise ships and in Macau casinos.
