PITG Gaming Attempts to Speed Up Pittsburgh's Casino Permit Process

In an effort to expedite Pittsburgh's permitting process, members of the management team that received the right to build and operate a casino in Pittsburgh, met with city officials on Thursday, December 28.

According to Bob Oltmanns, spokesman for PITG Gaming Inc., the company would like to accelerate the permit process for the 400,000 sq ft slot casino.

PITG Gaming is hopeful that the casino will be operational by March of 2008. However, analysts say that the company will have to work double time if it wishes to make it in time.

"This is a 6 to 12-month process that we're trying to cram into less than 2 months," Oltmanns said. "A lot of things are going to have to happen in much more rapid-fire succession than would normally be the case."

Nevertheless, members of the Pittsburgh Gaming Task Force have made it known that they would prefer a delayed opening with class-A quality, rather than a low-quality casino that would open on time.

According to Oltmanns, while they are waiting for the permits to be processed, the architectural and engineering drawings are already being drafted. He also named Dallas-based Turner Construction Co. the construction manager of the project.
