Bill 60, a newly drafted bill seeks to make casino advertisements illegal in Ontario, Canada.
The bill drafted by Jeff Leal moves to crackdown on online gambling sites and web betting portals that are not regulated in Canada.
According to Jeff Leal, the increased number of illegal internet gaming sites that operates both land based and offshore is a threat to the existence of the casino operations in Ontario.
The bill is aim to protect the gambling industry that are presently regulated by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
Bill 60 will forbid the publication, circulation and broadcasts of any ads pertaining to online casinos or web betting sites that are not licensed by Ontario or Canadian gaming authorities.
According to Leal, the land based gambling destinations that suffered the most because of online gaming sites are the Kawartha Downs and Kawartha Slots in Ontario as well as the Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto and Mohawk Racetrack of Campbellville.
Woodbine Entertainment Group, who operates the Campbellville and the Woodbine Racetrack, backs the Bill 60 as the company is loosing one hundred million to illegal online casinos.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is in charge of regulating gambling activities and the nine various casinos and 17 racetracks and slot betting sites in Ontario.
