On Thursday, January 11, 2007, the State Board of Gaming Control said that Nevada based casinos have posted their second good month with November 2006, achieving $1.14 billion or an equivalent of 14.1% over the same period last year. Frank Streshley, Senior Research Analyst for the State of Gaming Control Board, said that the win resulted from the high class gambling activities, especially on the Baccarat Tables in Las Vegas. Casinos in Las Vegas contributed about $642.4 million in total wins or an equivalent of 22.4%. Blockbuster events like the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Carlos Baldomir fight, Rolling Stones and Barbara Streisand concerts helped attract tourists on the strip and in turn helped the resorts earn record wins.
Losses were reported for casino establishments located in downtown Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, the Boulder Strip and Reno and for the clubs that are located on Lake Tahoe's south shore-Sparks-North Tahoe area. Aside from the casinos in Las Vegas, the establishments located at Sparks, Laughlin, Mesquite, North Tahoe, Elko County and Carson Valley posted increases in their winnings. The amount of wins that Nevada posted was comprised of the numbers left in the casino registers after bettors wagered about $14.5 billion in November 2006. That includes $11.4 billion from the slot machine games and the rest from the table games. Nevada collected about $75.3 million from the fees on the November win.
That was a 19% improvement compared to the fees received for the same month in 2005. A complete analysis of the Nevada win states that Slot Machines accounted for almost $712.2 million of the total percentage. That also includes the $302.9 million by Multi-denomination Slots, which have posted an improvement of about 13.7%. The Penny Slots were a runner-up with a total win of $118.3 million or about 23% of the total wins. The Baccarat games posted a good record of about $117.2 million and Mini Baccarat contributed about $15.8 million or 20% in total wins. The other live casino games, like Poker, also contributed to the balance of about $1.14 billion in November.
The figures include $116.7 million for Blackjack, which has improved to about 20.1%, and $37.2 million on Craps, which has slightly dipped about 9.8%. Roulette has contributed about $35 million, which improved about 24.2% and sports pools have contributed about $35.5 million, reflecting a 500% improvement. Poker games contributed a total of $12.5 million in wins, which have improved about 4.1%.
