Nevada's casinos had collected a total of $1.06 billion in August according to the Nevada's state Gaming Control Board reports, thus setting a 7.5 win record for the month.
According to Frank Streshley, senior research analyst for the board, the August win was up 7.5 percent noting that the casinos' take from baccarat games was more than double what it was in August last year.
Streshley cited that with factors such as the closure of the Lady Luck hotel-casino in Downtown Las Vegas for remodeling, Downtown Las Vegas was down 14.3 percent having the third straight monthly decline, while the Strip was up.
The statewide win was the amount left in casino coffers after gamblers wagered $14 billion during August. That included $11.3 billion bet in slot machine games, and the rest on table games, according to the Las Vegas Sun report.
The board reported that, live games, poker for example, comprised the total balance of $337 million, which respectively included $105.5 million won on blackjack tables which is 7.7 percent up; $33.7 million on craps tables having a 13.6 percent win; $29 million on roulette, up 10.9 percent; and $3.5 million on sports pools which plunged by 42 percent. Poker games won $13.8 million, up by 17.7 percent.
