Mount Airy Casino is a State Gamble

On October 2nd, 2007, a casino facility in Pennsylvania whose proprietor is the subject of an investigation by a grand jury took another step towards the opening of their facility when the state gambling regulators gave important approvals and praised the casino facility as a good project that will produce millions in tax profits.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board gave permission to the floor plan of the Mount Airy Casino and its internal control, designed to keep the casino's assets safe and remove any possibility of money laundering and other related crimes.

Pennsylvania Gaming Board chairwoman Mary DiGiacomo Colins commented that this is an interesting project will offer more than 2,500 slot machines and contribute $150 million yearly in tax profits while making new jobs. Mount Airy casino will open this month in the Pocono Mountains as Pennsylvania first ever standalone slots casino facility.

The five other casino facilities that have opened in Pennsylvania in the past year are all located in horse racing tracks. Louis DeNaples, Mount Airy Casino's owner is the subject of a grand jury investigation on whether he did or did not tell the truth about his organized crime connections to the gambling regulators.

The director for gaming operations Kevin Hayes said to gaming board members that the casino's plan to safeguard their interests and ensure that their accounting procedure is correct. He added that the state regulations require good internal control and that they have met those requirements. Mount Airy is also comfortable with that level of control.
