Meadows Racetrack Casino to Open Soon

It was announced on May 4, 2007 that next month, the Meadows Racetrack and Casino will temporarily be opening their casino facility, featuring the first slots parlor in the state of Pennsylvania.

The temporary casino will remain open until the permanent casino facility is finished. Also, the 350 slot machines from Nevada were delivered to the casino that same day. Members of the Pennsylvania Gaming Board were present to inspect the machines.

Mike Graninger, Meadows Vice President, commented that each of the machines has a corresponding serial number and whenever the machine goes, the Meadows Racetrack can keep track of it. So if someone attempts to steal the machines, they can keep tracking it and help the investigators recover it.

That day also marked the final shipment of the equipment for the temporary facility. More than 1,400 slot machines are already in place at the site, but the Pennsylvania Gaming Board does not allow any cameras on the site.

The Meadows Racetrack Casino has already spent around $52 million on the slot machines and the temporary establishment, which is about 82,000 sq ft and includes a restaurant establishment that can seat 300 guests and features live entertainment.

The casino officials commented that they will spend around $225 million for the permanent casino facility. The temporary casino facility will open by the end of May. The permanent casino will open by late 2008 or early 2009.
