Gold Reef City Casino in South Africa will be investing R240-million in a 17-month development and refurbishment program that will see the casino add a range of new facilities to its premises, as well as revamp the look and feel of existing interiors.
Development work started in July and is expected to be completed by November next year. Construction will take place in four phases.
The casino has remarked R240-million of capital expenditure for the project, which includes the construction of a new smoking casino, a Gold Card lounge and an entertainment venue.
The new developments follow the remodeling of the Globe Theater and completion of 1,400 covered parking bays during the last financial year.
"Gold Reef City Casino, due to its market presence and size, is the flagship operation of the JSE-listed Gold Reef Resorts group. The latest investment into the property will ensure that the casino is able to maintain its stellar growth rate and performance into the future," Bongani Biyela, executive director and GM at Gold Reef City Casino said.
"The casino opened its doors more than six years ago and has constantly invested in upgrading its facilities. However, this latest project is the largest development we have undertaken since the construction of Gold Reef City Casino," Biyela said.
