Free Lunch and Transportation Lures Senior Citizens Customers to Crown Casino

As of May 20, 2007, the Crown Casino facility has come under intense criticism for offering senior citizens and sporting organizations free food and free bus trips to convince them to come to the gambling facility.

Mark Zirnsak, the Interchurch Gambling Taskforce Chairman, said that they find it hard to believe that the free meals and bus rides offered by Crown Casino are purely without malice and are from the goodness of the officials of the casino.

They claim that the meals are just a way to lure people to the gambling casino to earn more revenues. He said that the Crown Casino should provide funding for noteworthy causes like community organizations that organize different kinds of entertainment for people.

Zirnsak claims that if the Crown Casino wants to show genuine concern for the pensioners, they should provide funding for other noteworthy projects for the elderly.

A spokeswoman for the Crown Casino commented that many senior citizen organizations, sporting clubs and other social organizations schedule bus trips to the Crown Casino for their members.

Community Clubs come from all over Melbourne, Victoria, Adelaide and Sydney. The concerns regarding the senior citizens' visits to the Crown Casino have been mentioned in the state parliament.

A Labor member from Keilor George Seitz said that many of the pensioners could not afford to lose what little money they have at the Crown Casino.
