Foreign Croupiers Not Allowed in Macao

Macao, considered the Las Vegas of Asia will still not allow foreign dealers in local casinos.

The Macao government will not allow foreign croupiers to work in local casinos to secure local employment.

The Macao Special Administrative Region has announced in the local media that they have no plans of hiring foreign croupiers at local casinos.

Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance said in The Macao Daily that under the Macau strict ruling guidelines in the import of labor, foreigner workers are not allowed to work as dealers in any of the twenty one local casinos.

According to Tam Pak Yuen, the employment ban of foreign dealers is aimed to protect the employment opportunities of local residents.

Secretary Tam Pak Yuen remarks clarified the latest reports that are circulating in the local media which speculates that the Macao government will hold back control and allow foreign croupiers.

Currently, the Macao government does allow casinos to hire a certain number of non resident employees but only at the management level and in positions that will not harm the welfare of the local employees.

The twenty one casinos contribute more than seventy percent of the tax income of Macao.
