On May 10, 2007, the ministers in the United Kingdom were accused of authorizing "fake" casino regulations after British Prime Minister Tony Blair broke ranks with their respective parties.
The main reason is that they wanted to see more super-casinos in Britain and several smaller gambling casinos in each region of the country.
The plans for the casino construction all over the country were thrown out by the House of Lords, affecting the plans laid out by the MP's and Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell.
The super-casino plan for Manchester was spared, but the question of whether to require the Casino Advisory Panel (CAP) to review their decision again or reconsider the casino plans submitted by Blackpool is still being debated.
Many people are supporting Blackpool's bid because they believe that the economic situation of Blackpool is more desperate compared to Manchester's situation.
Prime Minister Tony Blair told the MP's that they are hoping to present the proposals again to make sure that the planned smaller casino in the different regions of the country will push through.
PM Blair said that he cannot see any reason why Blackpool and Manchester should be rivaling over the super-casino issue.
Tory member, Hugo Swire, said that the government's rules regarding the casinos in the country are out of order and it is up to the next Prime Minister of the country to clarify the position of the government.
