/New Articles 1/Pontoon Blackjack Variation
A pontoon is made with two cards totaling 21, like in regular Blackjack rules. The Pontoon Blackjack variation holds little difference from the standard Blackjack casino game, however, there are a few alterations to be considered:
- Dealer wins ties.
- The casino's cards are face down.
- Players must hit on 14 or less.
- Dealer stands on Hard 17 and hits on Soft 17.
- A Pontoon pays 2:1. A Pontoon is when the sum of the two cards dealt equal 21 (i.e. Ace and any 10 point value card).
- Blackjack or winning hands pay even money 1:1.
- A Five Card Trick, when a player has five cards of the same value without busting, pays 2:1.
- Players lose to the dealer if he has a Five Card Trick, unless a player has a pontoon, in which case the dealer pays double.
- Dealer checks his cards, if he as Pontoon he collects all bets. If there is no Pontoon then players play out their cards and then the dealer hits up to three more times
- If no one achieves a pontoon in a Pontoon Blackjack variation round, cards are re-dealt without shuffling. .
