Rules of Sic Bo

About Sic Bo

Sic Bo comes from ancient China. It is a betting game akin to Roulette that is played with three dice. It can be played alone or with other players

The Sic Bo table looks very complicated because it is divided into many sections each having explanations and depicting dice combinations. The game itself is nothing more than guessing game conditions after rolling out the dice. There are no game choices or decisions for the player to make after the bets have been made.

Just like Roulette, Sic Bo offers a lot of bets on number of conditions. The bets are not composite, e.g. you can not place one bet in more than one betting pocket. The betting table is not simple and requires additional clarification so that you can easily read it during the game.

Betting in Sic Bo

On the top of the table you can see two squares: "Small bets" is traditionally placed to the left and "Big bets" is to the right. The payoff ratio for them is always 1 to 1.

The bottom row of the table represents the "Number bets". You can bet on either one of six numbers. The payoff depends on how many times the number appears on the dice after the rollout: 1 to 1 if once, 2 to 1 if twice, 3 to 1 if three times.

The row above the number bets is called "Pair bets". You can bet on any of the possible 15 combinations of two dice. If a given combination occurs your bet pays 5 to 1.

Above the pair bets you can see a large row that doesn't have pictures of dice that's called "Total bets". With total bets, you wager on the total sum of all three dice. Three dice can summarily roll out a sum of 3 to 18; however 3 and 18 are considered losing bets and are excluded. This way you can only bet on sums from 4 to 17. Payoffs for the total bets are as follows:

The topmost row that lays between the big bets and small bets squares consists of three betting areas:

Don't try to memorize the payoffs for Sic Bo as there's really no need: the game table has all the odds written on it.
